Managing Director – CENTRIN
Helen Bhagwansingh is the owner and Managing Director of CENTRIN. She comes from a tradition of steel - her father having been a pioneer in steel merchandising in T&T in the fifties. Her own experience in the industry spans over fifty years.
Mrs B as she is popularly called, heads a diverse empire that includes steel manufacturing, hardware retailing, transportation, construction, real estate, light manufacturing and portfolio investments. Her retail business is the largest supplier of construction materials and supplies in T&T and possibly the Caribbean. Steel accounts for the largest proportion of sales in the hardware.
Mrs Bhagwansingh acquired Central Trinidad Steels Limited (CENTRIN) in 1998. Since then she has transformed the company with programs of reinvestment, rationalization, restructuring and diversification. As a result the market now has access to locally manufactured rebars and flats that are internationally competitive and CENTRIN is exporting to CARICOM, Venezuela, Canada and the USA.
Cleopatra may have launched a thousand ships, but Helen Bhagwansingh has built an empire of steel.
